Scarcity Consciousness - Life Examples

Posted on Feb 26th, 2007 by Jeff : Certified Spiritual Life Coach Jeff

I've had a couple of situations come into my life in the past week and since I had been contemplating writing about scarcity consciousness anyway, perhaps this is a good time to talk about that. Hopefully you get something out of this and I realize something for myself as a result of allowing this information to come through me.

The first situation resulted from a discussion I had with a friend who was telling me "how the world works" and how I needed to protect myself because my day job just informed me that my position was being eliminated...along with about 300 other people.

Most people that know me well weren't surprised when I reacted to this message with joy instead of discouragement. They knew that my job wasn't fulfilling to me and that I had been pursuing Spiritual Counseling.

Being notified I was being laid off at first was a bit shocking to me...but not for the reasons one might expect. The reason I was shocked is that I envisioned this scenario about 8 months ago. I intentionally envisioned it.
I envisioned literally working myself out of a job and getting to the point where I was somewhat expendable to the company. And I set about doing that.
I championed efforts to automate as much of my role as possible and to drive ownership for other aspects out into the roles that ideally should have owned that responsibility.

But as the months went along, the Universe took my lead and reflected that in other areas...areas that I had not intended to disperse...were reassigned.

I agreed with the rationale, but between those reassignments and my own work, I HAD literally worked myself out of a job...about two months ahead of my schedule.

But I kept myself busy with new projects coming in and attacking things that had been overdue for awhile...until last Thursday.

That's when they announced that they were closing operations for most of us in the building. I had heard the news through the grapevine a day earlier, so I was prepared for the news when it came. I had gone through the feelings of shock and fear of the unknown already and when the actual news came, the feeling that swept over me...wasn't more fear.

It was relief...followed by a sense of joy...because in that moment, I realized I could create anything.
I had created this situation for myself. I had found it difficult to move on into what I knew was my dharmic purpose in life because I had a job that was paying me quite well. It offered a sense of security and I was able to do what I really loved on my lunch hours and at night. It was a little of the best of both worlds...except that it was difficult to go to work at a job that I felt was tearing at my soul...instead of filling it.

So I had kept myself in a state of limbo...a man holding onto two doors, unable to let one go and move forward. And thankfully, the Universe took one of those doors out of my hand. It happened just four days ago and yet I know it was a major turning point in my life.

In the span of the last four days, I have been able to envision the future I now want to create much more clearly.

But I am finding that this paradigm threatens some people. There are people who view the world fearfully and because they have not been able to achieve what they wanted in their life...or have had unexpected events, they believe that the world isn't safe and that those events will take us down when we least expect it.

But my view is this. It is that belief which attracts that experience to a person.

As I have stated before, we are vibrational beings and if we hold the vibration of fear within us, we will attract situations into our lives that show us that we still hold that vibration within us.

These events that come into our lives are not sent by the Universe to hurt us, but they are intended to get our attention...because it is us that carry the seed of this within us. It is us that have unconsciously chosen to repress our feelings...and as long as we do so, we will continue to experience them over and over again.

So consciously, we have a choice. We can choose to believe in our abundance or we can choose to believe that if we fly too high, the Universe will bring us back down to earth.

Which one do you want to believe? Which one FEELS more exciting?

The second example is one that happened this morning. I was contacted by a friend here at work who has a friend who is just starting out in Spiritual Counseling and is having problems generating clients. She lives in Dallas...which is where most of my client base is...and wanted to know if I would help her learn how to generate clients.

So the dilemma that would face most people is whether or not I would be helping my "competition." My friend even suggested that possibility in his voicemail.

But I know that the Universe...tmy Source is...never ending supply...unlimited abundance. So if I hold a belief that I am somehow limiting myself by helping another, I will attract limitation into my life in some way.

So when this opportunity came to me this morning, I knew that I had an opportunity to model my belief in unlimited abundance.

I believe that this counselor will attract clients that need something different than what I provide and once I find out what she specializes in, I will refer people I run across that need that perspective to her. And I will help her in any way I can to get her practice up and overflowing with clients...sharing everything I have considered to generate client interest.

My goal in life is not simply to make money. That will come as a result of my intentions to create abundance. But any abundance that comes into my life must come as a result of activities that benefits not only me, but everyone.
I believe that the Universe has unlimited abundance reserved just for me...but also just for you. It's a new paradigm to wrap our minds around.

We must understand that the Universe is ever expanding and the more we expand our ideas about what's possible, the more possibility is created.

So an idea that just came to me is to build a network of counselors. The more counselors we have and the more we know about those people, the more we can refer clients to the appropriate person. I will create a pod today about that.

My dharmic purpose is to serve others and to help them find the right path for each person...whatever they need to learn and grow in their lives at the pace that is best for them.

What I want is for the right people to find their way to the right counselor at the right time. I will not accept clients that are not vibrationally right for the process I teach. But I would want to know who I could send them to as I run across people every day that would like some sort of help and direction.

If you're interested in such a network, contact me and we'll talk.

With both situations, how does this information help you and how can you apply it to your life?

Making desirable changes in our lives requires us to do more than just take in new information...it requires us to apply it.

It is the difference between being enlightened...and empowered.

Tell me how this information is either already being applied in your life...or how you could apply it to your unique circumstances.

It is said that what you give away comes back to you.  As you help others realize their dreams and help them find their client base, so too will you.
